THE WATS is a humorous absurd drama and an extraordinary psychological study of a woman who lives with her husband and child in a remote house deep in an apocalyptic desert,
here as in the original text "The Woman at the Store" by Katherine Mansfield in New Zealand.
The concept, composition, direction, and video content are the work of Stepha Schweiger, with support from Florian Tippe (sound design) and PFA-STUDIOS (stage backdrop/video), as well as Pyrolator (electronic arrangement).
The cast includes Anke Retzlaff (Woman, singer, also as an avatar), Ziv Frenkel (Kind Else, dancer, also as an avatar), Deborah Rawlings (narrator, performer, also as an avatar), N.N. (Jo, baritone), and Adam Goodwin (Hin, double bass).
The piece is musically and performatively supported by the LUX:NM ensemble, featuring Silke Lange (accordionist), Ruth Velten (saxophonist), Florian Juncker (trombonist), and Zoé Cartier (cellist).
