Der eingetragene Verein „Aktuelle Musik und Musiktheaterproduktion Berlin“ (AMB) wurde 2017 gegründet.
Im selben Jahr wurde die erste Produktion auf die Bühne gebracht: das 100-minütige immersive avantgardistische Musiktheater „The Mark on the Wall“ von Stepha Schweiger nach der gleichnamigen Kurzgeschichte von Virginia Woolf.
Die Uraufführung fand 2017 konzertant beim Tête à Tête-Opera-Festival in London und szenisch im AckerStadtPalast in Berlin statt, gefolgt von einer Premiere in Baden-Württemberg beim Festival KlangHaus Ulm 2018. Die gesamte Produktion wurde gefördert vom LAFT und vom Ministerium für Kultur in Baden-Württemberg.
2019 folgte die erfolgreiche Wiederaufnahme der Musiktheater-Produktion „The Mark on the Wall“ im Theater im Delphi Berlin, woraus ein Live-Film gedreht wurde.
The registered association “Aktuelle Musik und Musiktheaterproduktion Berlin” (AMB) was established in Berlin in 2017.
In that same year, AMB’s first production was brought to the stage. The 100-minute long, immersive, avant-garde musical theatre show “The Mark on the Wall” by Stepha Schweiger, based on the short story of the same name by Virginia Woolf, celebrated its concertante premiere during the Tête à Tête-Opera-Festival in London and its scenic premiere at AckerStadtPalast in Berlin, both in 2017, followed by its debut performance in Baden-Württemberg at the KlangHaus Ulm Festival in 2018. The whole production was funded by LAFT and the Ministry for Culture in Baden-Württemberg.
In 2019, the musical theatre “The Mark on the Wall” enjoyed a successful return to the stage at the Theater im Delphi, in Berlin, during which a live film was made.

A new interdisciplinary music theatre
Neues interdisziplinäres Musiktheaterwerk
Aktuell wird die Studioeinspielung des Musiktheaters „The Mark on the Wall“ für den CD-Release vorbereitet. Weiter arbeitet der Verein an der Realisierung eines neuen Musiktheaters. Zur Unterstützung der kompositorischen Arbeit erhielt die Komponistin Stepha Schweiger in 2022/2023 Stipendien des Musikfonds und des Berliner Senats.
Die Berliner Komponistin und Musikerin Stepha Schweiger präsentiert mit THE WATS ein neues, genreübergreifendes Musiktheater.
Basierend auf der Kurzgeschichte „The Woman at the Store“ von Katherine Mansfield (1888–1923), wird das Stück am 2. Oktober 2025 in Berlin uraufgeführt.
Gefördert wird das Projekt vom Hauptstadtkulturfonds und u. a. unterstützt durch die Neuseeländische Botschaft in Deutschland.
Die Berlin-Aufführungen sind von 02.-04. Oktober um 20 Uhr und am 05. Oktober um 18 Uhr im Ballhaus Ost Berlin. Ein Gastspiel findet am 14. November 2025 beim SONIC VISIONS Festival in Reutlingen statt.
The studio recording of the musical theatre “The Mark on the Wall“ is currently being prepared for CD release. Right now, the association is working on the staging of a new musical theatre. To support the composition of the new musical theatre production, its composer Stepha Schweiger was awarded state-funded grants from the German Musikfonds in 2022 and the Berlin Senate in 2023.
The Berlin-based composer and musician Stepha Schweiger presents THE WATS, a new cross-genre work of music theatre.
The piece, an implementation of Katherine Mansfield’s (1888–1923) short story ‘The Woman at the Store’, will premiere on October 2, 2025 in Berlin.
The project is funded by the Capital Cultural Fund (HKF) and supported, among others, by the New Zealand Embassy in Germany.
The Berlin performances are from October 2 till October 4 at 8 pm and on October 5 at 6 pm at Ballhaus Ost Berlin. A guest stage performance of THE WATS will be held on November 14, 2025, at the SONIC VISIONS Festival in Reutlingen.
